Understanding your result
Typical target ranges
- Fasting / before meals: 4–7 mmol/L (non-diabetic ~4–5.9).
- 2 hours after meals: under 8.5 mmol/L (non-diabetic under 7.8).
- Below 4 mmol/L is a "hypo" (low) — treat with fast-acting sugar.
Targets are personalised for people with diabetes, so yours may differ — follow the numbers agreed with your care team.
⚕️ A general guide only, not a diagnosis or a substitute for your care plan. Readings above 11 mmol/L with symptoms, or below 4, warrant action — follow your diabetes advice or seek help. Very high readings with vomiting/drowsiness need urgent care.
