How the conversion works
eAG (mmol/L) = 1.59 × HbA1c% − 2.59
HbA1c reflects your average blood glucose over the past 2–3 months. Guide zones: below 5.7% (39) is normal; 5.7–6.4% (39–47) is prediabetes; 6.5% (48) or above indicates diabetes. Many people with diabetes aim for a target around 6.5–7% — yours is set with your clinician.
What HbA1c is diabetes?
An HbA1c of 6.5% (48 mmol/mol) or higher on testing indicates diabetes; 5.7–6.4% (39–47) is prediabetes.
What is eAG?
Estimated average glucose — your HbA1c translated into the everyday mmol/L or mg/dL numbers you'd see on a glucose meter.
